Ridgeway Challenge- 86 miles

From Lewis Cousins: A HUGE thank you to everyone that helped out at Goring and Bury Down tonight. It was another successful event expertly handled by Didcot Runners (and friends).  We certainly couldn't do this without your support and it's greatly appreciated. Time to catch some zzzz's!

From Andrew Casey Checkpoint 5 (Half way) of the 86 mile Ridgeway Challenge. A fantastic effort to even sign up to let alone get to this point and beyond. Supplying care, attention and rice pudding, the Didcot Runners and Compton Harrier did superbly. At that point in a challenge, a simple bowl of hot food and a tea is the best thing in the world. Well done everyone and especially Ben, Dan and all the other competitors for taking part.

The BACAs recognise and reward excellence amongst local businesses, community groups and young enterprise.  The BACAs are open to organisations, businesses, charity, community groups and young people, in and around the Didcot  area within the OX11 area including Culham Science Park, Harwell Campus, Milton Park, Southmead Industrial Estate and all the surrounding villages.




Beginners session 6th September 2016

Our next beginners sessions will start on Tuesday 6th September 2016, meet at the Didcot Town Football Club for 18:45 ready to run for 19:00.it's an 8 week programme to get to 5km followed by 4 weeks of improvers sessions and opportunity to join the club at the end for those who would like to. If you are interested and would like more information please email beginners@didcotrunners.org.uk or visit the Didcot Beginners Group Facebook page.


Didcot 5 and Fun Run

The annual race organised by Didcot Runners takes place on Sunday 3rd July, There is a five mile race for 18+ runners and a two mile "fun run" for all ages. Full information including how to enter, the route etc. are available on the Didcot 5 page.

Wallingford Thames Run

Congratulations to all the Didcot Runners who completed the Wallingford Thames Run on Sunday 22nd May. The third of the 2015/16 Championship races. A massive well done to Minna Jones-Walters who was the fastest female in the race in a time of 41:03. She was also part of the winning female team with Sian Loveless (42:30) and Eileen Naughton (45:10).

Welcome to the new shiny Didcot Runners website!! We have a fresh up to date look with a fully responsive theme that should look just as tasty on your mobile devices as on your desktops. If you spot anything odd, broken or not quite right then please let the webmaster know (webmaster@didcotrunners.org.uk) so he can fix it pronto!! You'll also notice we've tweaked the website address from .co.uk to .org.uk to better represent who and what we are. Goring 10K

A very well done to everyone who turned up to the first championship race of 2016! You climbed some big hills and baked in the sun, but still had the energy to smile at the end. Congratulations to everyone who set a new 10km personal best!

They did it their (North Downs) way

North Downs Way

Running 50 miles is no mean feat and I think it's probably fair to say that Sue, Sam, Lyn and Clare didn't have any ambitions in that area a couple of years ago.

But as they steadily notched up the achievements - marathons, trail marathons, a couple of ultras - they somehow hatched a plan to run 50 miles. And not any old 50 miles, but 50 miles of a notoriously hilly and tough North Downs Way. And what hat a plan they had.

Their training and preparation were meticulous; their support team of Lewis, Paul and Carl legendary; their dedication to recovery nutrition (tea and cake) unparalleled. They could all write a book on the right way to do this sort of thing.

Training complete, they set off to tackle those hills on a very hot day and nothing was going to stop them claiming that medal and t-shirt. There were tough times but they pulled through them together as a team. Rumour has it that their support team's commitment to taking on enough calories was taken almost as seriously as the runners, but our club chairman denies this. After 12 hours of running they hit that finish line exhausted, relieved and proud.

And Didcot Runners could not be more proud of what you've all achieved. It just goes to show that with teamwork, support, and sensible, progressive training anything is possible. Congratulations to all of you from all of us.
