Running 50 miles is no mean feat and I think it's probably fair to say that Sue, Sam, Lyn and Clare didn't have any ambitions in that area a couple of years ago.
But as they steadily notched up the achievements - marathons, trail marathons, a couple of ultras - they somehow hatched a plan to run 50 miles. And not any old 50 miles, but 50 miles of a notoriously hilly and tough North Downs Way. And what hat a plan they had.
Their training and preparation were meticulous; their support team of Lewis, Paul and Carl legendary; their dedication to recovery nutrition (tea and cake) unparalleled. They could all write a book on the right way to do this sort of thing.
Training complete, they set off to tackle those hills on a very hot day and nothing was going to stop them claiming that medal and t-shirt. There were tough times but they pulled through them together as a team. Rumour has it that their support team's commitment to taking on enough calories was taken almost as seriously as the runners, but our club chairman denies this. After 12 hours of running they hit that finish line exhausted, relieved and proud.
And Didcot Runners could not be more proud of what you've all achieved. It just goes to show that with teamwork, support, and sensible, progressive training anything is possible. Congratulations to all of you from all of us.
