Cross Country Round 3- Harwell, Sunday 5th February

Round 3 of Cross Country- Harwell

Bottom line up front.Who is coming to race in this Round? and who will be coming to the post race lunch? Please let me know by Saturday 28th January, so I can inform he league of our teams and inform the pub. All information is listed below.

What are the race timings? Mens Race 11:25- 8.5km.  Ladies Race 12:05 - 6.5km

What do you need to bring: Race numbers, (I have spares) Club Vest, £tbc car parking money and a smile. Meet at the club for lift sharing at 09:45.

 

NOTE FROM THE LEAGUE MANAGER Anyone seen urinating in public will be identified and their club informed. The individual identified will be disqualified from the race and banned from the League. This is private land. There will be no access for runners or vehicles before 09.00am on February 5th.

Ladies are in Division 3 position 15, 31 out of 35 teams. (moved up)

Team A: Moved UP 2 places from last round, Keep an eye on teams: Eynsham, Bicester and Cherwell

Team B: Moved UP 5 places from last Round, Keep an eye on teams:abingdon F & E and Witney D

Team C: we didn't qualify for Team c this round.

Men are in Division 3 position 11 out of 27 teams. (Held position)
Team A: holding our position from round one.Keep an eye on teams: Highworth and take position to score less points. 
Team B: We didn't qualify for Team B this round

Anyone interested in running Nationals for Cross Country, in Nottingham, Saturday 25th February. 
(no Qualification needed) http://www.englishcrosscountry.co.uk/the-national-cross-country-champion... run 8km at 14:20 and men run 12km at 15:00
Its chip timing, £7 per person.  If you are interested in running this race, please let me know as soon as possible as I need to enter you individually or into a team.

 Deadline for this race is 13th January. Let me know by 12th, So I can enter members in good enough time.

County championships for Cross Country, 2017

A special mention to Sian Loveless who came 10th overall in the County Cross Country Championships on Saturday 7th January at Stowe. It was a tough field and well attended.Well done Sian.

Committee Vacancies

Dear All Members. The AGM is fast approaching and it is my responsibility to advertise the committee vacancies for 2017. So listed below are the positions that we require nominees for: 

  • Vice Chair
  • Membership Secretary
  • Social Secretary
  • Wellbeing Officer
  • Championship Coordinator
  • Cross Country Coordinator

However, please note that all positions are considered vacant on the evening; including Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.

A draft copy of the Roles & Responsibilities of Committee Officers is attached to your email. Please note that this document shall be discussed and voted on during the AGM before it is formally accepted. We would like you all to have a read through and if you feel you are the right person for a role, please nominate yourself via email to Theresa (secretary@didcotrunners.org.uk) by 17th January. Note that all nominations must be seconded by another member. 

If more than one person stands for the same role, there will be a ballot at the AGM to decide who takes ownership of the role. Please note only First Claim members can vote (if required) on any motion raised during the AGM.

Upcoming Ordinary Meeting

There will be an ordinary meeting next Tuesday (10th January) to present the results of the tail runner survey and to discuss what the club would like us to do with the findings going forward. If anyone has any other buisness they would like to discuss please let myself or Theresa know. The meeting will be at the Football club following the club run; I will aim to start at around 8.15 pm. I hope that as many people as possible can attend as this is an important topic for the club.

AGM and Awards evening - Friday 27th January 2017

We would like to invite you all to Didcot Runners Annual General Meeting (AGM) / Awards Night

This is an important night for the club; it’s a chance to see how far the club has come since the last AGM, what we have achieved as a club and as individuals and most importantly where we all want to be for the future.

What will it entail? 

The purpose of the meeting will be to review the club’s progress over the past year (including the club finances and membership status) and to elect committee members for the following year. Immediately after the AGM, we will be presenting awards to our members for this year’s Championships and a few other categories.

The Club AGM and Awards Night will take place on Friday 27th January 2017. 7.15pm for 7.30pm start in the Function room of the Didcot Town Football Club.

The AGM Agenda will be sent out in January. If you would like anything adding to the Agenda, please let me know ASAP.  

We would like to ask members to bring a plate for a buffet that evening as this worked very well for the Didcot 5 presentation.

Award nominations 

In a few moments you will receive a survey via email from SurveyMonkey for the award nominations, this will enable the committee to collate all information prior to the night, or if you would prefer you can email me(a reply slip has been emailed to you if you'd like to use that method) (Secretary@didcotrunners.org.uk ) with your nominations for the following categories:

•        Most Inspiring Marathon Debut, in memory of Vince Gallagher.:Nominations are included in the poll

•        Best home parkrun, judged by age grading.: Please email me with your name, best parkrun time, date you achieved this, and age grade for that parkrun. The parkrun time and age grade must be from your home parkrun, and must be from the period 1st January 2016 to 31st December 2016.

•        Club Contributor of the Year.:  Please can you send me your nominations – this should include Name of Nominee, together with a couple of lines explaining why you would like to nominate that person or yourself. The names will be shortlisted and voted for on the night.

•        Most Improved Runner Male and Female.: Please send me your nominations, together with a couple of lines as to why you wish to nominate them.

Please let me have your nominations for Awards by Friday 6th January.
