We are looking for either a main sponsor or a number of smaller sponsors for the Didcot 5 mile race

Do you know of a company that could do with some local advertising!?

We are looking for either a main sponsor or a number of smaller sponsors for the Didcot 5 mile race, Sunday 2ND July 2017!

Race profits go to local charities - last year we raised £1000 for both of the charities.

The race attracts about 200 adult entrants and more than 120 fun runners, plus supporters. The sponsor's logo is included on race advertising and info so reaches far and wide in the lead-up.

If you would like more information, know of possibilities or would like to help finding sponsors please contact myself or Katie Oliver.

Many thanks for your support,

Sian

Tailrunner Survey

  • Posted on: 30 November 2016
  • By: Didcot Runners

Didcot Runners would like to gather and gauge your support on our tail runner voluntary role. Could we please ask each member for five minutes of your time to complete a survey?

The purpose of the survey is to gather the opinions of members on the continuation of the voluntary position of tail runner. Following an Ordinary Meeting on October 10th 2016 it became apparent that there were many different opinions on the tail runner, and uncertainty regarding the purpose of the position.

The position of tail runner maybe thought of as someone who provides the following:

  • Minimal first aid
  • Directions to prevent members from getting lost
  • Support to new members, and;
  • A runner at the rear of the group

While the tail runner may provide some of these functions, it does not provide these to all members running on a club run, and is not guaranteed to provide these functions at all.  Currently, the tail runner runs at the rear of the group and as such we would like you to consider what the tail runner means to you as a member, and how you would like the voluntary role to function in the future (if at all).

Instructions on how to complete and return the survey are given on the survey form. Our preferred method to receive responses is via the link below, but if you prefer a hard copy please print one from the Didcot Runners website or Facebook group, and leave the completed survey in an envelope in the tin for us to collect. Please provide your response by 7pm on Monday 2nd January in order for your response to be included. The committee will use the data gathered anonymously and feed the outcomes back to 'the members' at the AGM in January.

The survey is available via Survey Monkey which is emailed to your email addreess, posted on the closed group on Facebook or as a PDF file

B&CA Gala evening

For those of you who missed Tuesday nights introduction, last Friday night myself, Dave KnoppJudy Foster and Paul Griffiths (Dave, Judy and Paul are a few of our longest serving members) had the honour of representing the club at the Didcot First - Business and Community Awards. It was an "interesting evening" (quote provided by Dave Knopp) with several speeches including one from local MP Ed Vaizey, performances from local acts, quite a lot of clapping and some good company of course!

Although the club didn't win the award we should be proud to have been shortlisted (1 of 3) for the award of Best Established Charity/Community Group by our peers within the wider Didcot community. Being shortlisted shows that the community recognises the clubs efforts to bring people together through running, raise money for local charities and provide training and support to encourage people to get involved with the sport.

So I would like to say thank you to those who put the club forward for nomination; Carla HowesSam Eggleton and Theresa Lamble. In addition to the wonderful Vanessa Jane Armond who worked hard in her spare time to gathered information from Eileen NaughtonGeoffrey JacksonLisa Martin and the Didcot 5 team to support the committee's nomination.

Finally a huge thank you to everyone involved with the club, it is really the members who make our club friendly, welcoming and successful.

Well done everyone!
